Alberta Geraldine Morrison

December 20, 1940 — December 22, 2023

Jay

Alberta Geraldine Morrison was born on December 20th, 1940, to Albert and Myrtle Ratliffe Arnold in Gravette, Arkansas. She passed on to meet her heavenly Father on December 22, 2023.

Alberta was preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Morrison, Parents Albert and Myrtle Arnold, brother Ray, sister Norma, and Sister Kay.

She is survived by son Clifford Morrison (Cheryl) of Jay, son Richard Morrison (Sharie) of Jay, granddaughters Jesi Morrison of Jay and Samantha Chamberlain (Daniel) of Jay, great-grandsons Jaxsyn Gordon, Beckett Chamberlain, Liam Chamberlain all of Jay, and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Early in life, Alberta’s family moved around a lot in an era when jobs were in short supply and families had to go where work was available. She often spoke of the many places she lived growing up, from Gravette to Colcord, Siloam Springs, and for a while Hobbs, New Mexico. It was when her family was living in Jay she met a young sergeant home on leave and nearing the end of his five-year stint in the U.S. Army, Richard E Morrison. Alberta and Richard were married in  September of 1957 in Jay. They had their two sons, Clifford, about a year later and a second Richard, four years afterwards.

After marriage, Alberta and Richard lived in Oklahoma City for a time then Tulsa for several years. In 1971 Richard’s parents were in need of assistance so they moved back to Jay to take care of them in their time of need. Alberta worked selflessly in taking care of her family including her parents-in-law for the next several years. She later worked as a home caregiver to many elderly people around Jay and always spoke fondly of those she was able to assist.

After forty-six years of marriage, in 2005 Richard passed and left a void that would be present until Alberta’s passing.

Alberta always had her Christian faith front and center. A parting phrase from Alberta that became expected when leaving after a visit or a phone call was “God watch over you”. As her health declined and mobility became more challenging, Alberta was unable to attend Church regularly, but she always had her bible close and watched church services daily on her TV.

Alberta always hoped for grandchildren and felt very blessed when her first granddaughter, Jesi was born and her second granddaughter, Samantha, came along five years later. Both of her granddaughters enjoyed spending time with their grandma and grandpa and since they lived in close proximity, a fond memory was the daily after-school ritual of her granddaughters stopping by for a visit each day on the way home from school after getting off of the bus.

Alberta always loved the holidays and the family get-togethers, she loved fixing a big meal for all to enjoy or baking a birthday cake for one of her loved ones.

She was very much loved and will be greatly missed by all those fortunate to have known her.

Alberta will have a visitation on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at Worley Luginbuel in Jay, Oklahoma, from 5 pm to 7 pm. A funeral service will be held at Jay First Assembly in Jay, Oklahoma on December 28, 2023, at 2 pm. A private service will be held at the cemetery directly after the funeral.
