Betsy Blackman

Elizabeth “Betsy” Bell (McConnell) Blackman, 89 year old resident of Grove, Oklahoma, passed away on September 7, 2019 at the Grandwood Assisted Living Center.

Betsy was born on December 29, 1929 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas.  She was the loving daughter of Clennie Wayne and Grace Lillian (Bell) McConnell. After Betsy graduated from high school in 1947, she was united in marriage to the love of her life Roy Blackman in October of 1949.  Betsy was a very loving and devoted wife and mother of five children. Betsy and Roy enjoyed playing bridge, boating on Grand Lake, traveling, and dancing with the Green Country Square Dancers.  Betsy was a member of Grove’s First United Methodist Church and attended Grove Christian Church. Most of all, Betsy loved spending time with her family and friends.

Betsy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Roy Blackman.  She is survived by her children; Michael Blackman and wife Tina of Disney, Oklahoma, Steve Blackman and wife Sara of Plano, Texas, Brian Blackman of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Susan Struble and husband Rick of Grove, Oklahoma and Scott Blackman and wife Nila of Grove, Oklahoma.  Betsy was blessed with five grandchildren; Jason Blackman, Chad Blackman, Ethan Blackman and wife Whitney, Merritt Blackman,and Angela Brakefield and Adam,  and eight great-grandchildren; Jenna, Zachary, Charles, Riley, Madelyn, Isaac, Lydia, and Axel.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 pm, Friday, September 13, 2019 at the Grove Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Chapel.  Services are scheduled for 11:00 am, Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Grove First Christian Church with Pastor Ron Riley officiating.  Betsy will be laid to rest in the Buzzard Cemetery in Grove, Oklahoma.  Online condolences can be made at www.honoringmemories.com or on the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home Facebook page.
