Connie Branstetter

Benjamin Funeral Services, Nowata 918-273-2700... Connie Elaine Farrell Branstetter passed away Sunday, July 15, 2018, in Nowata, Oklahoma. She was born February 9, 1946, in Monticello, Arkansas, to Elvin Garland Farrell and Helen Virginia (Worbington) Farrell. They moved to Tulsa where Connie graduated from Nathan Hale High School in 1964. She married Walter Gutensohn and had one son Walter Warren of Nowata. Connie was widowed soon after young Walter's birth. She met Mark Branstetter in 1972 at a square dance at the Barn in Big Cabin and they remained active square dancers for years. They married April 8, 1973, in Tulsa and moved to the farm in Nowata. In November 21, 1975, they had a daughter, Lori Rae Branstetter Henderson, now of Perry. Connie had two stepsons Matt Branstetter of Noble and Todd Branstetter of Nowata. Connie worked several jobs over the years in Nowata and Bartlesville, but her passion was Tole painting as a hobby, as extra income, as an instructor but, mostly as fun with her friends. She owned the Country Cupboard Craft Store for over 20 years with her good friend, Linda McFerron. She was also dedicated to service in the Nowata Historical Society, the Glass House, president of Childers OHCE, treasurer of Nowata County OHCE, Grand Gateway board member, and member of the Nowata Democratic Party. She served for years as a member of the Nowata County Election Board. She was a member of the Nowata Genealogy Club, and loved decorating the Glass Mansion for Christmas and other events, and working in the garden. In recent years, she enjoyed working with the historical society preparing flowers for Memorial Day. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother Ben Farrell. She is survived by her brother Elvin Farrell of Pueblo, CO and her sister Twylah Farrell of Tulsa; husband Mark Branstetter of Nowata; son Walter Gutensohn of Nowata; and grandson Levi Gutensohn: daughter Lori, her husband Matt Henderson, grandchildren Madison, and Mason of Perry; stepson Matt and Tracy Branstetter of Noble, granddaughter Kyla and Jason McMoran, great-grandchildren Owen, and Luke of Norman, grandson Erik and Haley Branstetter, great-grandchildren Austin, Izak, and Sofi of Noble, granddaughter Bonnie and Jay Branstetter, great granddaughter Bre Pangborn of Noble; stepson Todd and Linda Branstetter, grandchildren Bret, and Faith of Nowata.
