Maggie Martin DuBois of Jenks, OK, a dedicated teacher, devoted wife and loving mother, died unexpectedly on Oct. 17 in a head-on collision involving a driver going the wrong way on the highway. She was 36 years old.
Maggie is survived by her husband Chad DuBois of Jenks, OK and her two beloved daughters Evie (5) and Liza (2). She also leaves her parents Greg and Michele Martin of Grove, OK; grandfather Bill Watkins and his wife Lyn of Paris, TX; her sister Kelsey Rhine of Grove, OK; her sister Allie Hughes of Oklahoma City, OK; her brother Jake Martin of Grove, OK; as well as loving in-laws, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
She is preceded in death by grandmother Lillian Watkins of Edmond, OK and grandparents Jim and Enola Martin of Holdenville, OK.
Maggie was born on June 1, 1983 in Shawnee, OK, the oldest of four siblings whom she considered her lifelong best friends. Maggie was raised in Blackwell, OK where she excelled in cheerleading and gymnastics and was involved in a local church youth group. Her family enjoyed summers together at Lake Eufaula. The Martin family moved to Grove, OK in 1999, where Maggie met her husband, Chad, and later graduated high school in 2001. Maggie went on to attend Oklahoma State University and earned a degree in Elementary Education. She and Chad spent time in both Nashville and Seattle before settling in Tulsa, OK in 2008. They were married in Tulsa in 2014 after 13 years together.
Maggie had a seven-year career as a devoted educator in the Tulsa area, teaching both first and second grade classes at Broken Arrow, Jenks and Bixby schools and impacting the lives of countless students both inside and outside her classroom. Maggie was known for her innovative creativity in the classroom and her dedication to her students, supporting them at their sporting events and even attending their birthday parties.
When Maggie wasn’t involved with her students, she was investing in her family, which was the most important thing in her life. Maggie’s lifelong dream was to become a mother, and she fulfilled that dream as a loving, devoted parent to her daughters. She was determined to always be present, to make memories together, and to raise her daughters to be best friends, just as she had been with her siblings. An animal lover, Maggie also raised two dogs, Emmy and Presley, as part of the family.
A loving wife and mother; a dedicated educator; a beloved daughter, sister and friend; Maggie impacted the lives of many and will be remembered and loved by all who knew her.
