Michael Torchia

Michael Joe Torchia, 73, of Bartlesville, passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at his home.

Michael was born April 18, 1947 at Pittsburg, Kansas to Joe Torchia and Delores (Pallett) Torchia.  He grew up in Pittsburg, attended St. Mary’s Catholic School and after high school graduation, enrolled at Pitt State University.  Michael earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance and after college, he and his brother, Frank moved to Topeka, Kansas.  While in Topeka, he married Debbie Mingori on July 5, 1972 and they moved to Bartlesville in the mid-70s.  Michael worked as collections manager for Federal Credit Union and later held the same job title at HSBC in Tulsa, where he retired.

He was a member of St. John Before the Latin Gate Catholic Church, but also attended St. James Catholic Church as well.  Michael enjoyed fishing, especially on Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees, where his family spent many Labor Day weekends.  He was a softball and baseball dad when his children were young and enjoyed following his grandson’s baseball career.  He enjoyed playing cards and the Anniversary trips to Branson, MO with his family.

Michael is survived by his wife, Debbie of the home; daughter, Christy Torchia of Bartlesville; one son, Danny of Pittsburg, Kansas; one grandson, Garrett Torchia of Bartlesville; a sister-in-law, Clara Torchia of Spring Hill, Kansas and her sons, Jeff Torchia of Olathe, Kansas and Joe Torchia of Kansas City, Missouri; as well as other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by a brother, Frank Torchia and by his parents.

Graveside services will be held 2:30pm, Friday, October 9, 2020 at Garden of Memories Cemetery, Pittsburg, Kansas with Father John O’Neill officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, 9 am – 8 pm with the family receiving guests at the funeral home from 6 – 8 pm.  Service and interment are under the directions of Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.  To leave an online condolence, visit www.honoringmemories.com .
