Richard “Duane” Allen, born on May 2, 1936, in Colcord, Oklahoma, passed away on June 5, 2025, at the Quail Ridge Living Center. He lived a life filled with hard work, dedication, and a commitment to his Christian faith.
Duane was a multifaceted individual whose career began as an iron worker. He later managed a trailer park and dealt with rental properties. His industrious spirit was evident as a farmer, as a truck driver for Simmons Industries. Simply, Duane didn’t like to sit down!
Duane’s hobbies included tinkering with lawn mowers, fixing refrigerators, auctioneering, fishing, spending time at the lake, and spending time with his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his son, Larry Allen and his wife Kathy; his daughters, Brenda Busse and husband Rick, Sherri Norman; along with 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, his sister Myrna Burke and husband Fred, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased by his father, Ray Benson Allen; his mother, Gertrude (Hyde) Allen; his first wife, Evelyn Allen (2017) ; his second wife, Loretta Allen (2020); his son, Richard Arric Allen; and two brothers, Harmon Allen (2010) and Gene Allen (2025).
A visitation will be held on June 8, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Worley Luginbuel Jay, located at 777 South Main, Jay, Oklahoma. The funeral service will take place the following day, June 9, 2025, at 10:00 AM, also at Worley Luginbuel Jay, concluding at 11:00 AM. Duane will be laid to rest in the Mount Hermon Cemetery.
Richard Duane Allen will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his craft, the love for his family, and a tenacious spirit that inspired those around him. His legacy will continue to thrive in the hearts of all who knew him.
